The Start of South Coast Fire Safety

Early Beginnings

When I was younger, I experienced first-hand how a single, overlooked hazard in my family home was able to put everything that mattered to me at risk.   The fire took hold at night before we went to bed, if it happened a few hours later we would have been asleep.   The good news is we all survived the fire,  but the house wasn't as lucky.  

I realised then it wasn’t just our house that was in danger; but also my family; my Brother, Sister, Mum and Dad and all the memories we had made together inside our home, the shared meals at the dinner table, the slow and quiet evenings, the noisy laughter that filled the house.    Not only did the fire threaten those memories and treasured family possessions, but it also took away the sense of safety that a home should give to a young person and a family.

That experience of a house fire has stayed with me for the longest time, and it still does to this very day.  It made me realise that fire safety isn’t about rules or paperwork, it’s not even about the house; it’s about protecting families where they should feel the safest.

This company is not just a business venture, it is my personal way of helping to ensure no family should ever go through the same experience I did, and to learn that fire safety is not just a piece of paper or legislation done as a tick box exercise, but it's common sense way to ensure that no lessons are is learned through a very traumatic experience.
